DePuy Spine offers a wide array of educational opportunities in spinal deformity. In addition to the programs described below, we also sponsor a biannual Spinal Deformity Summit in April.

TUTORIAL
Deformity Tutorials provide surgeons with a basic understanding of deformity correction a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge of advanced principles in deformity techniques. This course accommodates a small group of participants. The program begins with observation of live surgery, didactic sessions, and a group dinner on the first day, followed by a half-day session that includes hands-on cadaver training and case discussions.

HANDS-ON PRACTICAL LAB
Our Hands-On Practical Lab is an advanced course in deformity surgical techniques. This one-and-a-half day program begins with didactic sessions and case presentations on the afternoon of arrival, and is followed by a full day of hands-on lab work, supplemented by lectures. These programs accommodate up to 40 participants with a ratio of one faculty member to every three participants.

PEER-TO-PEER
Deformity peer-to-peer meetings provide surgeons experienced in spinal deformity the opportunity to discuss the demands of deformity surgery with their peers. All participants contribute to the meeting through case-based presentations assigned by the course chairs. Please note: the Deformity Peer-to-Peer programs are by invitation only.

ADVANCED DEFORMITY VISITATIONS
The Advanced Deformity Visitation program offers a unique opportunity to visit two thought leaders in spinal deformity surgery. A one-and-a-half day visitation to Dr. Harry Shufflebarger and Dr. Michael O’Brien includes discussion-based presentations among a small group of participants, followed by a group dinner with the host surgeons. Dr. Shufflebarger and Dr. O’Brien encourage visitors to bring their own cases(electronic format) with them for discussion. Day Two of the program includes live surgical observation in both host surgeons’ operating rooms.

SURGEON VISITATION
Surgeon Visitations are designed to provide the opportunity to meet experienced surgeons in either a one-on-one or in a small group setting. Participants attend live surgery and discuss surgical techniques, indications, and clinical results. Program agendas for Visitations are customized to suit the participants’ surgical areas of interest.
